John AlgieWhistler Partners is pleased to announce the placement of John Algie as a partner in Davis+Gilbert's Corporate + Transactional Practice Group.

John "represents privately held issuers, investors, acquirers, and target companies in domestic and cross-border transactions... Prior to Algie’s six-plus years at Reed Smith, he was in the private equity practice at Jones Day. He also gained significant business experience as the president and general manager of the Ohio Machine, a professional men’s lacrosse team."

Curt Myers, chairman of Davis+Gilbert and co-chair of the firm’s Corporate + Transactions practice group said of the move that "the timing of John’s arrival could not be better as our practice, focused on small to mid-sized deals, continues to see very heavy deal volume. We look forward to John... providing immediate high-level support closing deals in our incredibly active practice.”

The placement was led by Josh Bilgrei, Managing Director at Whistler, who said that he is "thrilled to place John at Davis & Gilbert. We first met years ago because of our mutual interest in entertainment and media, and John's business-side experience at a professional sports team really stood out to me. We stayed in touch all of these years and when the opportunity at Davis+Gilbert came up, I knew it was a perfect fit.

"Special thanks to my colleagues Sean Burke, Tad Gruman and Amdie Mengistu for their assistance and, as always, it was a pleasure working with Angela Totino, Danielle Caudill and the D+G team. Congrats to John and Davis+Gilbert!"
