Somewhere along the way, looking good in a suit became something of a lost art.
For lawyers, of all people, that feels worth correcting.
On Tuesday, October 6, Whistler Partners is hosting the third edition of The Love & Squalor Social Club, a night about personal style with F.E. Castleberry — the designer behind a world where classic tailoring meets a decidedly less conventional point of view.
Castleberry knows the rules of menswear well enough to have some fun with them. As he puts it in his F.E.C. Diaries, “Rules look backwards…at what’s behind. Style looks forward…toward new frontiers.” His work plays in exactly that space: traditional tailoring, beautiful fabrics and proper construction, mixed with unexpected references, combinations and a little irreverence.
That’s the idea behind the evening.
The point isn’t to follow a dress code perfectly. It’s to remember what makes a suit interesting in the first place: proportion, personality, confidence, and knowing when to break from convention.
There will be prizes for Best Dressed, Most Anarchistic, Best ABC (Anything But Clothes), and Best Fashion Faux Pas.
