The Legal Counsel will join a multifaceted Legal Team and report to the General Counsel. You will take on a broad and unique range of agreements and be a strategic advisor to business teams across Emerson Collective (EC). You will bring a business-oriented, practical mindset to solving problems and implement systems and processes to empower all teams across our ecosystem while protecting our values, assets and reputation. Your legal advice will accelerate the work across EC and maximize impact while mitigating unintended risks. You will serve as our primary point of contact on contracts and will work closely with our teams, including our operational teams, and both teach and learn along the way.
Drafting, negotiating, advising and managing a wide range of day-to-day and more complex contracts and third-party agreements, including services agreements, NDAs, funding and grant agreements, employment-related agreements, licensing and data sharing agreements and event/venue agreements Acting as EC’s contract management software administrator using a variety of systems, including Ironclad and Google Drive Providing general legal advice to EC teams (and partners, as necessary) regarding a wide variety of matters in areas such as general corporate, exempt organizations, intellectual property/data privacy/trademark, employment, immigration, and other areas of law in coordination with the General Counsel and in consultation with external counsel as needed Strategizing with EC teams during planning phase of their projects and events, then advising regarding practical implications in the context of relevant law and Emerson policies and values Operating as a centralized touch point for EC teams for legal advice through regularly hosted office hours Being a trusted resource to EC operational teams (i.e., IT, Engineering, People, Workplace Experience, and Finance) to support execution of key objectives Assisting with advice on COVID protocol and coordinating on related needs, including intranet website content maintenance, staff coordination for event and office testing Maintaining EC and affiliated entities corporate policies and related documentation Hosting legal trainings for new hires, and coordinating additional legal trainings with external partners consulting with People team and external counsel regarding employee benefits for each class of employee Handling other matters as needed at the direction of the General Counsel
