Backed by top VCs and led by a seasoned CEO from the consumer goods industry, this DTC startup is primed to disrupt an established market.

On the heels of a successful Series A funding round, join the team as VP of Legal to oversee the company’s portfolio of legal and regulatory issues, and serve as trusted legal counsel to the CEO, senior leadership team and Board of Directors with respect to the legal implications of major decisions, strategies and transactions.

You will report to the CEO as a member of our senior leadership team working collaboratively to achieve company goals across sales, marketing, product, engineering, HR and finance, and serve as a key advisor on issues regarding risk management.

As VP of Legal, you will develop and maintain responsibility for the company's legal strategy and assess potential risks in the following areas: commercial agreements, regulatory requirements and filings, product development, finance, risk management, insurance, privacy and data security, marketing, litigation, employment/HR, and others as may arise in the course of business.

 

Qualifications

  • U.S. JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in the state of New York or other U.S. state.
  • At least 4 years of overall legal experience, ideally a mix of top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal, preferably in a fast-paced startup or tech-focused environment.
  • Broad generalist experience (diverse areas of law including commercial contracts, regulatory and compliance, consumer and e-commerce, litigation and risk management, employment, intellectual property, and corporate law) is ideal, and experience with product and regulatory counseling is a plus.
  • Understanding of business strategy in direct-to-consumer e-commerce startups and/or experience with consumer medical devices.
