About this role:

In this position, you will provide dedicated legal support to SCHOTT AG's various North American business units on a variety of commercial legal matters, including reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements and supporting commercial strategies.  You will report to the General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Structure, draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including supply agreements, statements of work, vendor and contractor agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
    • Provide ongoing legal counseling on a wide range of legal areas, such as insurance, employment, compliance and litigation matters.
    • Support the company’s corporate activities, including due diligence and integration work for acquisitions.
    • Support implementation and enforcement of company compliance and environmental, health and safety policies.

About you:
  • Minimum five years of experience practicing law within a legal department of a global company or large law firm.
  • Experience handling a broad range of legal issues with an emphasis on commercial matters, including contract review and drafting, litigation and claims management.
  • Ability to efficiently manage the contract review process and prioritize numerous stakeholder requests for legal review to timely deliver accurate feedback regarding requested customer redlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, independently, strategically, and with sound judgment
  • Excellent writing, communication and research skills.
  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Admitted to practice in New York, or eligible for in-house counsel registration.
  • International experience and German language skills a plus.
