PubMatic is immediately hiring a strong Director of Privacy to join their legal team in Redwood City or New York on a hybrid schedule.

The winners of this next phase will not be defined by who has the most data, but by who can use the most data. And that is about who has the best privacy program. At PubMatic, they see the future - and they're looking for someone to join with their team to help drive that future.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Director of Privacy will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading their global strategy for privacy. You will champion compliance and ensure the alignment of their operations with evolving privacy laws and best practices in the industry.

PubMatic is looking for someone to help them both build an industry-leading privacy program AND help to reinvent how Ad Tech thinks about privacy. This is a job about being able to both: run a privacy program and take a blue-sky approach to changing the engine that powers the entire internet.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive privacy program that aligns with global privacy laws (like GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on all aspects of privacy and data protection, providing guidance to various teams within the company
  • Lead privacy impact assessments and ensure continuous monitoring and auditing of privacy practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy-by-design principles into product development and data handling processes
  • Stay abreast of legislative and regulatory changes in privacy, advising the leadership team on potential impacts and strategies for compliance
  • Develop and deliver privacy training to employees, enhancing the organization's privacy culture
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulators and partners, to represent the company's privacy stance
  • Manage and mentor a team dedicated to privacy and data protection initiatives.


  • 4 to 6 years of hands-on privacy development experience for enterprise platforms 
  • 8 to 15 years program management experience


Nice to Have:
  • Ad Tech experience
  • JD degree


Compensation and Benefits:

Base Salary Range: $220,000 to $250,000

In accordance with applicable law, the above salary range provided is PubMatic’s reasonable estimate of the base salary for this role. The actual amount may vary, based on non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. In addition to salary PubMatic also offers a bonus, restricted stock units and a competitive benefits package.
