Corporate Deputy Chief Legal Officer @ Group of Crypto/Blockchain Portfolio Companies

United States [Remote]

About This Company:

Want to join the metaverse? Interested in helping a dozen or so startups navigate the legal and regulatory uncertainties of the crypto and blockchain spaces? Looking for the rare opportunity in crypto where a team is currently growing, not shrinking?

This family of crypto and blockchain startups does everything from decentralized social media, to telehealth services, to philanthropy. While most of the startups are early-stage, all of them are internally-capitalized and some already have significant revenue, either through physical securities services or node sales. Coming off a string of successes, their CLO has given us the green light to help him build out their legal team, with six new legal hires!

About This Role:

As Corporate Deputy Chief Legal Officer, you'll have a major hand in growing the portfolio of this group, and ensuring their success. You'll report directly to the Chief Legal Officer, taking the lead on M&A activity and setting up new entities. This is a great opportunity to have a seat at the table at a growing and stable player in a developing space.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CLO and Executive team on all legislative and regulatory developments affecting the business
  • Lead M&A transactions and other strategic initiatives
  • Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on a wide variety of commercial agreements to meet business and legal requirements
  • Support the development, management, implementation, and continuous improvement of legal and risk-management processes and procedures
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with business partners, outside counsel, and other stakeholders
  • Oversee corporate governance matters, including preparing corporate resolutions and meeting materials
  • Address legal risk in business-centric ways, developing processes to solve problems, strengthening partnerships, and advancing opportunities

About You:
  • JD with bar admission in good standing in at least one jurisdiction
  • 9+ years of corporate legal experience (M&A, EC/VC or Corporate Generalist) at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house
  • Former blockchain or crypto experience is a huge plus but not required
  • Interest in blockchain and crypto is a must!
